The Spring 2007 Talkabout, a magnetic puzzle in a can, includes scripture, prayers, and discussion ideas connected to the weekly sessions on the theme “Living the Good News Together.” As the quarter progresses, families will enjoy assembling the puzzle on their refrigerator! Teachers and church leaders are celebrating the fresh energy Gather ’Round is bringing to Christian education and congregational life. Many evaluations have already been submitted, and all comments are greatly appreciated. Remind teachers at your church to complete and return their evaluations each quarter, using the online form, or by mailing the form found at the back of each teacher's guide.
Early feedback has already helped the Gather ’Round development team plan what's ahead. Soon there will be enhancements to www.gatherround.org, with more tips for users. Beginning with Fall 2007, the Primary materials will include more active options for children, and more ideas to meet the needs of readers and nonreaders.
Need help teaching 5-year-olds? Even if 5-year-olds are enrolled in kindergarten, Gather ’Round Preschool materials may be more appropriate for them. Talk with your Preschool and Primary teachers about adjusting class groupings or materials to best fit your children.
Are parents in your church receiving CONNECT, the quarterly study guide for parents and caregivers? CONNECT involves adults in Gather ’Round faith learning. It is designed for group study, but may also be used by individuals. In addition to weekly Bible study sessions, CONNECT offers daily devotions for parents on the weekly Bible themes. Order copies for each parent, and extras for visitors or outreach.
ROUNDABOUT is a quarterly newsletter for Gather ’Round leaders. Look for it in your Sunday school and church mailings, or find a PDF here. Photocopy and distribute ROUNDABOUT each quarter to help teachers, pastors, parents, and church leaders stay informed about Gather '’Round.
Plan ahead for summer! During the summer quarter, Gather ’Round offers materials for Preschool, Multiage, and Parent/Caregiver. Junior Youth teachers and students use Multiage materials. This summer’s theme is “The Parables of Jesus.” Watch for more details in the summer issue of ROUNDABOUT and online at www.gatherround.org.
Check the Gather ’Round HANDBOOK for a complete overview of the Gather ’Round curriculum plan, as well as articles and tips about many aspects of Christian education. The HANDBOOK is recommended for all church leaders, Christian educators, and pastors. Order extra copies, and share them broadly.
